The Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BFRSS) is a national data collection system, coordinated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, designed to enable public health professionals to assess health risk factors known to contribute to or increase the risk of chronic and communicable disease, acute illness, injury, disability and premature death. Kansas has conducted the statewide BFRSS every year since 1992.

Johnson County, KS conducted the BRFSS in 2000-2001 using a random digit dialing telephone sampling method. Over one thousand Johnson County residents were interviewed.
