Safe Kids Johnson County


The Health Department is the lead agency for Safe Kids Johnson County. Safe Kids Johnson County is affiliated with the National Safe Kids campaign, the first and only national organization dedicated solely to the prevention of unintentional childhood injury -- the number one killer of children ages 14 and under. There are more than 300 Safe Kids coalitions and chapters in the United States and around the world. The Safe Kids Johnson County program is comprised of agencies, organizations, and businesses within Johnson County who work to prevent unintentional injury in children.

Power Teen!


Power Teen was developed in 2003 when educators, school nurses, and parents requested family programming that addressed sexuality for older children 12 to 15 years old. The two night program deals with abstinence, sexually transmitted diseases, teen pregnancy, communication and goal setting.

Let's Get Growing!

 

Let's Get Growing! is an interactive parent/child sexuality education program. Formerly known as "Growing Up ~ A Good Time", this class has recently been revised and is offered in a two - three night format. In the class, parents and children ages nine to 12 learn together about puberty, hygiene, reproduction, and social development.
