A four session program
that combines cooking demonstrations and taste-testing with basic information
on diabetes and nutrition. HbA1C
testing offered for persons with diabetes on the first night. For

Healthy Employee
A twelve week session
held at the employee’s
worksite that includes comprehensive health screenings and weekly educational
talks and cooking demonstrations to help individuals obtain a healthy weight

Obesity Prevention Project
Activities
and events to create environmental changes to support better nutrition habits

Growing Up A Good Time
A four session
parent-child sexuality education program designed for parents and their children
ages 9-12, to learn about sexuality and to foster positive family communication.

Power On!
A two session program designed
for teens 13-15 years old and their parents. Through activities, games, presentations
and videos, families have the opportunity to explore facts, feelings, attitudes

HIV Orasure Testing
Provides HIV prevention
counseling, testing, and referral services for people who are engaging in
behaviors that cause them to be at risk for contracting HIV. To make an appointment

Healthy Living Project
Develops and coordinates
educational activities, events and support groups for gay and bisexual men
in collaboration with the Healthy Living Project. The Healthy Living Project
is funded by a grant from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.

Johnson County SAFE KIDS
Coalition
The Health Department is the lead agency for the Johnson
County SAFE KIDS Coalition. This Coalition
is affiliated with the National SAFE KIDS
Campaign, the first and only national organization dedicated solely to
the prevention of unintentional childhood injury -- the number one killer
of children ages 14 and under. There are more than 300 SAFE KIDS coalitions
and chapters in the United States and around the world. The Johnson
County SAFE KIDS coalition is comprised of agencies, organizations,
and businesses within Johnson County who work to prevent unintentional injury
